The Power of Reinvention

I’ll admit it: I’m a personal development junkie. To me, there’s nothing more boring and useless than a life lived on auto-pilot. What’s the point in living, if you’re not growing?

As such, I believe it’s both healthy and admirable to reinvent yourself once in awhile. Change is good. Try new ideas. Follow your inspirations. Live your life.

Something has been in the air for me. The winds of change blow through me and beckon. So much of my work has been about grounding the wildness of soul into the mundane. “Pay the bills. Learn about running your company. Put yourself out there. Step beyond your fears. Help more people. Dare to dream.” I’ve learned how to actualize my spiritual calling into “chop wood, carry water,” practicality, and share that step-by-step pragmatism with my clients…and yet, a yearning for freedom calls me like the mother earth calling me home. Yes, I’m a business coach that guides others through the process of establishing a steady income stream from their life’s work…but I’m not all that locked into the cult of materialism, nor do I ever wish to be. So while I’ve learned some skills in marketing and commerce, that’s not really what it’s about for me. I want to engage in a deeper dialogue.

I had the auspicious good luck of crossing paths with a long-lost friend, a writer and artist who has inspired me with his blog. As an avid student of Internet marketing, of course I’ve heard of blogging already. But most of the marketing gurus I’ve learned from speak of blogging as yet another marketing *ploy* to get the word out. Forgive me while I yawn… Awake again… Oh yes, the thing that inspired me about blogging. What I’ve most loved about my friend’s blog has been the mixture of deep insight with casualness, and intimacy. It’s both flowing and profound at the same time. Now that’s inspiring to me! I’ve had so many things I wanted to say, and have said, but the formality of well-planned articles has started to weigh on me. Frankly, it’s become a chore and well…not inspirational to me.

And so, with that realization and insight, I’ve decided to reinvent my writing. From eZine to Blog, here I am. Less planning. Less formatting into a certain number of words per article. More off the top of my head. More from the heart. And most definitely, more informal. Will I still be talking about the nitty-gritty how-to’s of business? You bet. Will I share the fruits of my resources and continual learning? Of course! But let’s also create a space where we can just hang out and chat. Join me in a cyber-cup of herbal tea or whatever tickles your fancy and feel free to comment back on my posts. Let’s get to know each other. Tell me how you’re reinventing yourself at this very moment. As a coach, your growth and reinvention just rocks my world.
